The Tea Act of May 10th, 1773

After taxes like the stamp act, the sugar act, as well as after the Boston Massacre, the King of England started the Tea Act. This act placed a very high tax on tea. Even though this act lowered the price of tea, it still heavily taxed the colonists. They did not like being taxed without representation in England.

Sons Of Liberty

A famous group of colonists in Boston, like Paul Revere and Samuel Adams, got together and had a meeting at the Old South Meeting House in Boston to create a plan. What was this plan?

Boston Tea Party, December 16th, 1773

Well, the plan was to have the Sons of Liberty and Colonists impersonate, or dress up as and pretend to be Native Americans in the middle of the night on December 16th, 1773. They boarded three of the ships that held the crates, or boxes, of tea and threw them over the side of the boat and into the Boston Port.
