​The Gulf War is a conflict between Iran and its allies and NATO after Iraq invaded Kuwait in order to take their oil against their will

​As for the middle eastern countries, a coalition between Saudi Arabia, Syria, Egypt, and Iraq was formed to defend themself against NATO. NATO consisted of the U.S. and 42 other countries. The secretary general of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization during the Gulf War was German Politician Manfred Worner, on the other side was Iraqi prime minister Saddam Hussein. The Gulf War started due to the United States intervening Iraq’s invasion and annexation of Kuwait, which Iraq thought was rightfully theirs.

​Battles/Casualties

​The Gulf War was a very harsh conflict that still has lasting consequences to this day. The casualties on the Iraqi side are still not set in stone but range from 8,000 to 50,000 and Kuwait with 180,000 to 630,000. American and British troops combined suffered only 194 casualties, though a majority of soldiers who came back home suffered “Gulf War Syndrome.” It’s widely believed that it is a mixture of PTSD and most soldiers breathing in toxic nerve agents that Iraq likely used during the conflict.

Pre-Gulf war

Before the gulf war they were tensions already steaming against Iraq and kuwait. Iraq´s Leader Allegedly said that kuwait was trying to steal oil from the Rumayla oil Feild, He also demanded that Kuwait give control of the Bubiyan and Warbah Islands to Iraq. During this period, there was a deterioration of relations between the United States and Iraq.

Iraq had largely financed the war effort through loans, and owed some $37 billion to Gulf creditors in 1990.Iraqi President Saddam Hussein called on the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait to cancel the Iraqi debt they held, arguing that the loans should be considered payments to Iraq for protecting the Arabian Peninsula from Iranian expansionism, but his appeals went unanswered. The Gulf states’ refusal to cancel Iraq’s war debts contributed to Saddam Hussein’s decision to make threats against Iraq’s rich, but militarily weak, neighbor Kuwait.

​Tactics and Weapons

​The US Air Force lead most of the destructive attacks against Iraq. The US used a series of precision air strikes using missiles commonly referred to effects based warfare. Effects based Warfare was the use of missile’s and laser guided bombs to strike targets in critical locations not to destroy they target, but to cripple them so that the US could use less resources to stop the Iraqi military. Laser guided bombs, Tomahawk cruise missile, and the YF-17 stealth fighter Proved large success to expel the Iranian Military using the effects based warfare. Most of the attacks were air attacks using the new F-17 Jets and Black helicopters. Rhode Island had 4 National guard units mobilized, their main goal was using C-130J’s to deliver passengers and essential cargo to US and allied forces. 

Land warfare

Land warfare wasn’t the main focus in the Gulf War, but land warfare named Ground Campain lasted for aproximatly 100 hours. The main attacks were focused north towards Kuwait City near the Saudi Arabian Border. Land Warfare wasn’t as esential as the air aspects of the war.

After the war affect over the people

Over 8,000 or 10,000 iraqi deaths when the war ended so many family were sad for their loss others don't worry.Some others lives however of the family did not care for there remorse.While within 300 coalition troops hough the Gulf War was recognized as a decisive victory for the coalition, Kuwait and Iraq suffered enormous damage, and Saddam Hussein was not forced from power. 

The human toll of the Persian Gulf war — as many as 100,000 deaths, 5 million displaced persons and over $200 billion in property damage — ranks this conflict as the single most devastating event in the Middle East since World War I.
