Solar System Formation Basics

  • Cloud of gas (nebula) compresses to form a star

  • Star formation causes a gravitational pull which makes the cloud start spinning

  • While spinning, the dust pieces start crashing into each and growing larger

  • When the pieces get big enough they start to mold into a sphere

  • There are still leftover 'scraps' from the initial formation of the planets
