  • Great Britain (England) had full control over the 13 colonies

  • After Great Britain ( England) won the French and Indian War, King George III (King of Great Britian) felt the colonists should pay for some the  cost of the war

  • Parliament (Britian's Government) passed several new laws designed for colonists to pay for the war debts
