• A translation is a transformation that slides a figure along a straight line.

• To translate a figure in a coordinate plane, add or subtract the given number of units to the preimage coordinates.

• Positive values translate a figure up or to the right.

• Negative values translate a figure down or to the left.

Translate the fiugre 2 units up and 1 unit to the left.
