Poll

If you have only 2 options, which baseball team do you think is better?

5

Poll

Why did you pick one team over the other?

Stop Here After You Take The Poll

And Wait So We Can Review The Results

Statistically the team I picked is doing better than the other one.

The team has a better chance of making it into The World Series and that's the team I root for.

I am a fan of that team and would like them no matter how good or bad they are doing.

I didn't like the options here or I have another reason (other).

Things to think about

What is a conversation?

Do two or more people always agree when they are having a conversation?

Explain why two or more people might not agree when having a conversation? How often do you think you do this a day?

When having a conversation with a peer or a friend how often do you try to get them to agree with you on a daily basis? How do you persuade them to agree with you?

How is persuasion used in everyday life?

Let's Look At The Poll Results And Setup For A Peer To Peer Discussion

 - First, raise your hand if you picked the Yankees and make note of

who picked the Yankees.

- Second, raise your hand if you picked the Mets and make note of who

picked the Mets.

- Pair off with a student who picked the opposite team that you picked

and separate into groups of 2

Peer To Peer Discussion

- Follow the instructions in the Google Forms document and write your answers as requested.

- Make note that you are trying to persuade your partner why your team is better...and...you might not be able to. Think of this like you are trying to convince a friend to go and see a movie you want to see.

- Search for a simple fact that you can use to persuade your partner why your team is better by using a Google search.
