What does "てくれてありがとう" mean? 🤔


"てくれてありがとう" is a phrase that expresses gratitude for someone doing something for you. It means "Thank you for doing (something) for me."


When to use "てくれてありがとう"? 💡

You use this when you want to thank someone for their action that helped you or made things easier for you. It shows gratitude for their effort!

​How to use "てくれてありがとう"? 🛠️

👉 Conjugate the verb into (te)-form
👉 Attach
くれてありがとう (kurete arigatou)

EXAMPLE:

What does "てしまいました" mean? 🤔

When しまいました is used, it often carries an emotional nuance, particularly when the action is something the speaker regrets or feels was an unfortunate event. The tone implies that the action wasn't entirely intended or ideal.

​How to use "てしまいました"? 🛠️

👉 Conjugate the verb into (te)-form
👉 Attach
しまいました (shimaimashita)

EXAMPLE:

1️⃣ Forgetting something accidentaly
 にんじんを
わすれてしまいました
  Ninjin o wasurete shimaimashita
  I ended up forgetting the carrots

2️⃣ Unintentionally eating everything

A Little Mistake

Ken was carrying the groceries, carefully checking the list as he walked home. As he glanced through the bags, he realized something were missing. Haha, walking behind him, quickly remembered she had forgotten them.

Luckily, they still had some in the fridge at home. With a light chuckle, they continued walking, not worried about the small mistake.
