Simple Past – Overview

Definition:
Used for completed actions in the past.
🔹 Structure:
Subject + verb (past form)

Past Progressive – Overview

🔹 Definition:
Used for actions that were in progress at a specific moment in the past.
🔹 Structure:
Subject + was/were + verb-ing
🔹 Examples:

• They were studying when the lights went out.

When to Use Each Tense

Time Expressions

🕒 Simple Past:

• yesterday, last night, two days ago, in 2010

• while, when, at that moment, all evening
