Example 1: Find the Mean
Carla is in a bowling league. The league is ranking the teams by average score. What is the mean, or average, final score of the five bowlers on Carla's team?
Add all final scores and divide by 5

Sum all of the values:
95 + 87 + 84 + 81 + 83 = 430
Divide by the number of values:
430 ÷ 5 = 86
Add all final scores and divide by 5
