Sum of all numbers ​in the data set divided by the total number of data values in the set

Median

​Measure of center

Order the ​values from least to greatest, then find the middle

Most frequent value

The value that occurs the most​

Example 1: Find the Mean

Carla ​is in a bowling league. The league is ranking the teams by average score. What is the mean, or average, final score of the five bowlers on Carla's team?

Add all final scores and divide by 5

​Sum all of the values:

95 + 87 + 84 + 81 + 83 = 430

​

​Divide by the number of values:

​430 ÷ 5 = 86

Add all final scores and divide by 5
