Learners can...

• identify finger symbols and notes for the right hand

• identify correct treble clef notation

• perform keyboard exercises with the right hand

​If you were not in class last time, you will need to go back and watch the recording or look at the instructions on page 4 of today's Edio lesson and apply your stickers.

Vocabulary

• Keyboard Exercises: short musical excerpts designed to help a musician improve specific keyboard skills

• Notate: to write something with music notes

  • What is the ROOT WORD of "notate"? How does that help us remember this definition?

• Finger Symbols: numbers used to help you identify which finger to use when playing a certain note on the MIDI keyboard

Middle C Position

Extra Credit: Cameras On!

​TIPS:

• If you do not have a separate webcam, angle your laptop camera down to show only your keyboard.

• If you have a second monitor, display zoom and quizizz on the second monitor.

​​In focus mode, I am the only one who can see your camera. This gives me the opportunity to fix your playing before it becomes a problem.

About the Keyboard

The treble clef is assigned to the notes above middle C. Therefore, the right hand plays the treble clef notes.

​​Notes on the keyboard sound higher in pitch from left to right.

​The right hand plays above Middle C.

Right Hand Position

​Place your palm face down with your thumb resting on middle C.

​Hand should be relaxed and slightly curved.

Hand should NOT be too flat, too curved, or tense.
