Static friction is the frictional force that acts on the contact surface of an object when the object tends to move but has not yet moved.

​SLIDING FRICTION

Sliding friction is the frictional force that resists the motion of an object sliding over the contact surface.

THE FORMULA OF THE FRICTION FORCE

The ratio between the magnitude of the sliding friction force F_sf and the normal force N is called the coefficient of sliding friction, denoted by μ
