Personal Pride

  • This year, I started a History Club on my campus to get students engaging with history in person and not just in the classroom

  • With over 50 members, students fundraised over $2,000 for field trips to seven different historical sites

  • First year teaching/induction goal to implement technology, and use data to guide instruction

  • Simultaneously, my history department was working to develop and improve our Common Formative Assessments and data collection

  • I proposed funding for a year long pilot of Quizizz for the History Department to assess it's utility for our site goals

  • Purposeful Use: every activity on Quizizz connects to standards, goals or real-time student needs (not just for fun)

  • Bell Ringers: Short quizzes that activate background knowledge and introduce new topics

  • Common Formative Assessments (CFA): This History department at my site has adopted Quizizz to administer our department wide common assessments, informing the discussion in our PLC groups as well as intervention needs

  • Data-Driven Reteach: Utilizing the various question modes during lessons, I probe for nuanced thinking as well as class wide understanding of concepts

  • Low Stakes Review: Using Quizizz I can push students toward mastery by creating a repetitious approach to retain important information
