By DECK DUTREUIL

2

Learning Objective

I can plot, order and compare whole numbers up to 10,000.

3

Vocabulary

  • Ascending: From Least to Greatest (Smallest to Biggest)

  • Descending: From Greatest to Least(Biggest to Smallest)

4

What do I do..........

  1. Count the digits
Look at how many digits (numbers) each number has.

    • A number with more digits is bigger.
Example: 456 has more digits than 78, so 456 is bigger.

  2. If the numbers have the same number of digits…
    Start comparing from the
left, which is the biggest place value (like hundreds, tens, or ones).

    • Look at the first digit.

    • If they are the same, move to the next digit.

    • Keep going until one number is bigger.

5

What do I do continued........

  1. Example:
    Compare 472 and 458

    • Both have 3 digits

    • First digit: 4 and 4 (same)

    • Second digit: 7 and 5 → 7 is bigger, so 472 is bigger than 458.
