Without any discussion, decide which is your position on the statement and think about your reasons. Take a class vote and make your choice:

Once each group has explained their rationale, move again into the four corners. If your position has changed, join the group that best reflects what you think now. Think about why your opinion has changed.

We will be reading the text "Cost of Survival" alongside with a graphic organizer that will help us learn how to effectively annotate argumentative writing passages. We will read the passage first before I model what I expect us to do when we come across an argumentative text.
Materials needed: Argumentative Guided Reading Organizer (GRO), Cost of Survival Reading Passage, and a pencil.
