Definition:

Example:

Complex Sentences

Definition:

A complex sentence consists of an independent clause and one or more dependent clauses.

Example:

The author opposes the new law, which bans sales of large-size sweet drinks.

Compound-Complex Sentences

Definition:

A compound-complex sentence consists of two or more independent clauses and one or more dependent clauses.

Example:

The author opposes the new law, which bans sales of large-size sweet drinks, but many people support it.
