#1 The Close Up Shot

• Focus closely on the subject

• Shows detail, emotion, or texture

#2 Over the Shoulder Shot

• Taken from behind a person

• Shows what they are looking at

#3 Bird's Eye View

• Taken from above, looking up

• Makes subjects look smaller or part of a bigger scene

#4 Worm's Eye View

• Taken from below, looking up

• Makes subject look larger, powerful, or dramatic

#5 Control your Background

• Pick backgrounds that don't distract

• Makes subject look larger, powerful or dramatic

#6 Framing

• Use objects in the scene (doorways, windows, hands) to frame the subject

#7 Depth of Field

• Choose what is clear/sharp and what is blurry

• Focus on your subject, blur the background

#9 Symmetry

• Both sides of the photo are balanced or mirror eachother

#10 Shadows

• Use light and shadows to add drama or mood
