Dialogue is the written conversation between characters in a story.

✨ Features of Dialogue

  • Talking – Dialogue is when characters or people are speaking.

    • Example: “I like apples,” said Mia.

  • Quotation Marks (“ ”) – These marks show exactly what someone says.

    • Example: “Look at the rainbow!” shouted Ben.

  • Speaker Tag – Tells who is talking (said, asked, shouted, whispered, etc.).

    • Example: “I’m ready for recess,” said Leo.

  • Shows Feelings – The way people talk tells us how they feel.

    • Example: “That thunder scared me,” whispered Ana.

  • Moves the Text Forward – Dialogue helps us understand what is happening.

    • Example: “Let’s go to the park,” said Dad. → Now we know where they are going!
