Now that you have built your pendulum let's explore:

A compass shows the direction of magnetic north, which is slightly different from the geographic North Pole.

Gather the following materials: two bar magnets, one ring magnet, and a box of iron fillings.

Gently tap or shake the box to spread the iron filings out as evenly as possible.

Place a magnet on the top surface of the box.

Gently shake or tap the box. You should observe some iron filings being attracted to the magnet.
