B. Franklin as a Founding Father
Benjamin Franklin was a famous leader, inventor, and writer who helped shape American history. He was one of the Founding Fathers and helped write the Declaration of Independence. Franklin also worked as a diplomat, helping the United States get support from France during the Revolutionary War.

Benjamin Franklin did not fight directly in the war, but is well known for his help in winning it. Franklin served as an ambassador to France and gained support from the French to aid America in the war. After the war he helped draft the Treaty of Paris (1783) to negotiate peace.

Franklin as an Inventor & Scholar
Benjamin Franklin is also known for his smart ideas and inventions, like the lightning rod and bifocal glasses. Franklin believed in learning, hard work, and helping others, and he played a big part in building the new country.

Benjamin Franklin, like some of us, had troubles seeing. In his old age he became near-sighted and far-sighted so he made a solution for that - the bifocals!
These glasses are two sets of lenses cut horizontally and put together.

Probably Franklin's most famous invention, pictured above we have the lightning rod! This simple looking invention ranged from 8-10ft and were put on buildings to catch electricity.
Franklin was the first to discover electricity in lightning!
