A descriptive text is a kind of text that explains or describes a person, place, animal, or thing in detail.
It gives information about the appearance, characteristics, or qualities of the object being described.
The main purpose is
to give a clear picture so that the reader or listener can imagine the object easily.

The social function of descriptive text is:

  • To describe a particular person, place, animal, or object.

  • To provide information about what something or someone looks like.

  • To make the reader or listener feel, see, or imagine the object as if it is real.

  • Identification → introduces the object (what or who is being described)

  • Description → explains the parts, features, or characteristics
