Prefix en-

By Jessica Freeman

2

The Prefix "EN-"

means "in," "within," or "to make" something.

When added to a base word, it creates a new word that implies something is placed inside something else or is made larger.

For example, with en- meaning "to make," the base word "large"
becomes "enlarge," meaning "to make large". With en- meaning "in" or "within," as in "encase," it means "to place in a case".
