Colonize- settle an area and taking control over the populations who live there
Globalization- the process of the world becoming more interconnected
Life expectancy- how long people in a region live on average
Literacy rate- what percentage of the population can read and write
Multinational corporation- a company that has a branch in at least one country outside its home country
Raw material- a natural resource taken from the Earth that is used to make something else, example cotton to make clothing, iron ore to make steel
Specialize- focusing on one or two things (Geographically- focusing your economy on a certain product or service)
United Nations (UN)- global organization of governments throughout the world; goal is to keep international peace and support economic cooperation between countries
