I Do: What is an Adjective?
An adjective is a word that describes a noun.
Nouns are people, places, or things you can see.
Think of adjectives as special words that describe things.
For example, we can say, 'the big, brown dog.'
The words 'big' and 'brown' are the adjectives here.
6
I Do: How to Find Adjectives
To find an adjective, you must first find the noun.
Then, ask questions about that noun, like "What kind?" or "How many?"
The word that answers your question is usually the adjective.
For example: 'The happy girl played.'
Ask: "What kind of girl?" The answer is a happy girl.
This means that happy is the adjective in the sentence.
