What are Prepositions?
• A preposition shows the relationship between a noun and another word.
• They often tell us about the location (where) of something.
• Prepositions can also tell us about time (when) something happens.
• They can also show the direction (where) something is going.
• They add details, like if your homework is on or under the table.
• Words like around, past, and into are all common prepositions.

Let's Learn with an Example
Here is our example sentence: The cat jumped over the fence and ran toward the tall tree.
The word over connects the jump to the fence, telling us where the cat jumped.
The word toward connects the run to the tree, showing the direction the cat ran.
Both words help answer the question "where?", so we know they are prepositions.
