“Future Wall Prediction” Activity

Introduction

English has several ways to talk about the future.
You already know “will,” but there are more forms.

Will

Used for:

✔ Predictions
✔ Promises
✔ Instant decisions

Examples:

• I think it will rain tomorrow.

• I will help you with your homework.

• I’m hungry. I will buy a snack.

Going to

Used for:

✔ Plans and intentions
✔ Things you decided before speaking

Examples:

• I am going to study tonight.

• We are going to visit our grandparents.

• That car is really fast. It is going to crash!

Present Continuous (am/is/are + -ing)

Used for:

✔ Fixed arrangements (personal schedule)

Examples:

• I am meeting my friend at 5 p.m.

• They are having dinner with grandma tonight.

• We are travelling to Jakarta tomorrow.

Present Simple

Used for:

✔ Timetables
✔ Schedules
✔ Programs

Examples:

• The train leaves at 7:30.

• School starts at 7 a.m.

• The movie begins at 6 p.m.

Future Continuous (will be + -ing)

Used for:

✔ Actions in progress at a specific future time

Examples:

• This time tomorrow, I will be studying.

• Next week, we will be doing our project.

• At 9 p.m., she will be watching TV.

Future Continuous (will be + -ing)

Used for:

✔ Actions in progress at a specific future time
