Did you know?

  • Blood alcohol concentration is the amount of alcohol present in the bloodstream.

  • Alcohol goes directly to the bloodstream, affecting every system in the body. It acts as a nervous system depressant.

  • A 12-ounce beer, a 5-ounce glass of wine, and 1.5-ounce shot of liquor all have the same amount of alcohol.

  • It takes fewer than three drinks to affect motor skills and coordination.

  • The presence of food in the stomach slows the alcohol absorption rate.

  • Mood changes occur when blood alcohol levels are between .02 grams/100 milliliter to 0.08 grams/100 milliliter.

  • Passing out and unresponsiveness are signs of alcohol poisoning. Call 911.

  • Women absorb alcohol into the bloodstream faster than men and metabolize alcohol slower than men.
