What is conjugation?

It sounds wrong to say;

Examples of conjugation
Conjugation is how we change the verb, based on who is doing the actions. It is a grammar rule that can make your language sound wrong if you don't follow it.

How to conjugate.
There are 4 steps to conjugate in German.
Find the verb.
Remove the infinitive ending.
Find who is doing the verb.
Add the matching ending.

heißen = to be
machen = to do
haben = to have
zahlen = to count
Examples
Verb is German are usually the second part of a sentence.
When not in a sentence, they usually end with 'en'.
'en' is the inifinitive ending. 'Infinitive' means the basic form, that has not been conjugated yet.

3. Find who is doing the verb.
We will use pronouns for these examples.
NOTE: sing. = singular [1]
plur. = plural [2+]
Ich spiele Fußball -> I play soccer.
Er ist nett. -> He is nice.
Wir lernen Deutsch -> We learn German.

4. Add the correct ending.
Each pronoun in the table uses a different ending.
To remember the endings you need to know;

4. Add the correct ending.
To say 'I have', we take our verb 'haben'
without the infinitive ending 'hab'
and add the correct ending for 'I/ich' -> habe

Not all verbs follow this pattern.
Verbs that don't follow this pattern are called 'irregular verbs'. Often, they change a vowel when conjugating with du or er/sie/es.
Keep an eye out for any irregular verbs as you learn!
