The Dress Code

Students wear uniforms at many schools. Students who are dressed alike have a sense of belonging to the school. They know they are a team that works together. They are often more orderly and more serious about learning. They focus on what’s inside their minds, and not on the clothing that’s outside.

The school dress code tells what kind of clothing is acceptable and what is not. Usually a school uniform has a number of different options. For example, there may be two different colors of pants or tops that can be worn. That way, students can vary what they wear during the week without everyone looking identical

Anton goes to Lincoln Middle School. He looks through his clothing before the beginning of the school year. He has pants and shorts. He has T-shirts, polo shirts, and button-down shirts. He has shoes, sneakers, and sandals. Some of his clothes are acceptable to wear to school. Other clothes are not acceptable. The illustration shows a few of the items in his wardrobe.
