Powhatan
Powerful Confederacy: They were a sophisticated alliance of roughly 30 Algonquian-speaking tribes led by Chief Powhatan, controlling a vast territory in coastal Virginia. Culture and society was built around the environment in which they lived.
Were at first allies with Europeans and helped them through the first winter, but Conflict started when Jamestown started to expand into Powhatan land.

First Permanent English Colony: Founded in 1607 by the Virginia Company of London, it was the first successful attempt by England to establish a lasting presence in North America after several failed attempts like Roanoke.
