  • Owen spent much of his early life gaining an appreciation for reading and language and enlisted in the British military in 1915

  • Owen wrote Dulce et Decorum after a horrific night of marching under heavy artillery fire through wet, freezing conditions in Jan. 1917

  • Wilfred Owen died in battle in Nov. 1918, one week before the armistice, at age 25.
