​• Tools are used in electrical and electronics work

• Students use tools and equipment

•Examples:

- Multimeter

- Screwdriver

- Wire stripper

- Soldering iron

​Features and Characteristics

•Features = parts or special qualities

•Characteristics = size, shape, material

•Examples:

•Digital multimeter: screen (digital screen) , buttons (on/off)

• Screwdriver: handle (rubber), metal tip (magnet tip, steel)
Soldering iron: long, light, hot

​Comparing and Contrasting Tools

•Compare = how tools are the same

•Contrast = how tools are different

•Example:

- Multimeter and test pen = check electricity

- Multimeter shows numbers, test pen shows light

​Functions of Tools

•Function - what the tool is used for

- Multimeter: measure voltage, current, resistance

- Screwdriver: tighten or loosen screws

- Wire stripper: remove wire insulation

- Soldering iron: join electronic parts
