We Are Getting Better At understanding how data compression works, why it is used, and how methods such as Huffman coding and run length encoding reduce file size.

Know that data compression reduces the size of data and that different methods such as Huffman coding and RLE can be used.

Create and interpret Huffman trees, use frequency/data pairs for RLE, and calculate the number of bits needed for compressed and uncompressed data.

Understand why data is compressed and how different compression methods store data more efficiently than standard ASCII representation.
