Chapter 7-8 Animal Farm

When Squealer says that Comrade Napoleon has stated categorically that Snowball was Jones' agent from the very beginning, Boxer replies,

• "That's a bold lie, Squealer and you know it!"
• "I don't believe it!  Snowball would never have done that!"
• "If Comrade Napoleon says it, it must be right."
• "I will work harder!"

The only two animals who never lost heart when rebuilding the windmill were:

• Boxer and Clover
• Boxer and Benjamin
• Snowball and Mollie
• Major and Napoleon

In order to maintain appearances and avoid any bad results as a result of the food shortages, Napoleon ordered

• Rations increased.
• A bounty be placed for the return of Snowball.
• Mr Whymper to deliver 12 bushels of grain daily.
• The store sheds be filled to the brim with sand and then covered with grain and meal.

In order to pay for enough grain and meal to keep the farm going till summer came on and conditions were easier, Squealer announced

• the hens must surrender their eggs.
• the pigs would be leasing the farmhouse to Mr. Whymper's family.
• several of the young pigs and sheep would be sold to the butcher.
• the lower pasture would be sold to Pinchfield.

It was rumored that Snowball was 

• living in one of the rooms of the farmhouse.
• hiding on one of the neighboring farms, either Foxwood or Pinchfield.
• secretly building another windmill for Foxwood.
• dead, having been killed by Napoleon's dogs months earlier.

In the early Spring it was discovered that

• Farmer Jones had sold the deed to Manor Farm to Mr. Pilkington!
• Snowball was secretly frequenting the farm by night!
• Napoleon liked to wear Mrs. Jones nightgown once all the animals had gone to bed!
• Napoleon had developed quite a taste for crispy B-A-C-O-N!

After the sale of the timber to Frederick, it is discovered that

• Napoleon had secretly sold the lumber to Pinkerton.
• Frederick had paid for the lumber with counterfeit bills.
• Napoleon had also sold Mollie to Pinkerton.
• Boxer and Benjamin are plotting to have Napoleon sold to another farm.

Napoleon announces that it turns out

• Snowball was "in league" with Jones from the very start.
• Squealer was his son from a previous relationship!
• Boxer has been stealing sugar and ribbons to give to Mollie.
• Mr. Whymper is a spy for Farmer Jones.
