STEMtastic Students

Students learn not just science, technology, engineering, and mathematical processes and practices, but also across and beyond STEM disciplines. This does not include which of the following: 

•  collaboration and communication 
• real world problem solving connections
• engineering design process implementation
• outcomes/solutions are the same

Students learn to demonstrate their work in authentic ways that mirror what they will be required to do in their careers and in further learning. These include all of the following except:

• project creation
• verbal communication
• trial and error applications/demonstrations
• non-performanced based assessments

Students are encouraged to work independently and collaboratively and learn the way scientists do—by asking questions that lead them to discover solutions to authentic and complex problems? This can be done by all the the following except:

• inquiry
• discovery
• creative problem solving
• whole class instruction
