The annual cycle of religious feasts and seasons that forms the context of the Church's worship is called:

This liturgical season reflects on the life of Christ and gets its name because its days are numbered with ordinal numbers and exists in two blocks of the year:

• Christmas
• Advent
• Ordinary Time

This liturgical season is a time of hope, waiting, and preparing that begins for weeks before Christmas.  It's color is purple.

• Lent
• Advent
• Ordinary Time

This liturgical season focuses on the Risen Jesus and is 50 days long ending with Penecost:

• Easter
• Lent
• Christmas

This litrugical season focuses on the the wonder and Incarnation (the Word made flesh).  It directly follows Advent and lasts until the Solemnity of the Baptism of the Lord.
