What are the three branches of the US Government?

• Congress, Legislative, Judicial
• Executive, Legislative, Judicial
• Presidential, Representative, Judges
• Executive, Federal, Representative

Each branch of the government watches over the other in a system called:

• checks and balances
• checks and scales
• balances and money
• cash and currency

Why are checks and balances part of our Constitution?

• to keep the government in power
• to keep the people from power
• to make sure no one branch has too much power
• to support a king 

The Legislative branch is made up of

• the president and vice president
• the judges of the Supreme Court
• The House and Congress
• House of Representatives and Senate

The principal duties of the Legislative Branch are to:

• write, debate, and pass bills
• veto the president
• check that laws are Constitutional
• carry out the laws of the nation

The Congress can check the president through:

• determining a law is unconstitutional
• overriding a veto & impeachment
• firing the president
• declaring war

The Executive branch of the Government consists of:

• The House and Senate
• The Supreme Court Justices
• The president and vice president
• The principal and vice principal

The president's job is to:

• determine if laws are fair
• make money
• declare war
• carry out and enforce laws and to suggest laws

The president can check the legislative branch by:

• firing any member
• vetoing bills
• determine a bill is unconstitutional
• rewrite any law he wants

The Judicial branch of the Government is made up of: 

• judges
• past presidents
• Congress
• ordinary citizens
