Natural Resources of PA

What are natural resources?

• things made by nature
• items created by woodland creatures
• things made by nature that are useful to people

One of the four main natural resources found in PA are the forests. Some of the uses we have for them today are:

• paper, furniture, and building homes 
• railroad ties, wood burning stoves, and ships
• making baseball bats, building forts, and creating fencing posts

One of PA's natural resources is water. Some of the things we use water for are:

• swimming, hiking, and baking

• drinking, reading, and vacuuming

• drinking, swimming, fishing, hydroelectric power, and the transportation of goods

One of PA's natural resources is soil. The soil in PA is rich in nutrients and is good for farming. Some items grown here are:

• oranges, pineapples, and rye
• corn, wheat, oats, apples, and peaches
• gillyweed, mandrake root, wormwood, and Devil's Snare

One of the four main natural resources found in PA is minerals. There are three minerals found in our state:

• coal, natural gas, and oil
• olive oil, natural gas, and coal
• petrol, kerosene, and oil

There are two kinds of coal mined in PA. They are:

• Amethyst and Bronzite
• Bituminous and Anthracite
