Recently, elementary students have been getting less and less recess every year. School days are getting longer, but the amount of recess and breaks are getting shorter . Many people argue that kids need more recess, not less . Recess helps kids learn how to work in groups and play together. Recess also helps children get the daily exercise that they need . Recess gives children’s brains a break from learning. These breaks help children pay attention and learn more through out the rest of day . Recess helps reduce stress in children

They also sleep better than kids that do not exercise . Exercising is fun to do . Exercise helps keep people strong . It makes your muscles, heart, and lungs stronger. There are many health problems that children are starting to have because of unhealthy eating . Schools need to have healthier lunch and breakfast choices . Even though they taste good, French fries , cookies , and bread sticks are not healthy to eat . Lunches should be homemade and not taken out of a package ready to eat . Food that is ready to eat out of a package has a lot of preservative in it . Preservatives are not healthy to eat . Schools should have more fresh fruits and vegetables . Having healthier lunch choices will help prevent diseases in students .

I think one of the most interesting animals is the whale. Last year, my family took a cruise to Alaska. From the deck, I saw a whale surface in the water! It came up quickly and then flipped onto its back, making a huge splash. The type of whale I saw was a humpback whale. Humpback whales travel from Hawaii to Alaska every year. A fun fact about whales is that they love to sing. They sing whale songs to call to other whales and just for fun! That is why I think whales are the most interesting animals

Summer is finally here! My favorite thing to do is go to the park, and during the summer it stays open until 9 PM. Every Thursday night this summer there will be a movie shown on a big screen. I can’t wait to enjoy a movie under the stars with my family! The park also just opened a splash pad. I’m looking forward to running through the fountains of water to cool off from the summer heat. I can’t think of anything I’d rather do during the summer than spend time at the park.

Piper opened her eyes on Saturday morning. Her mom was standing over her with a tray. “What is that?” she asked her mom in a groggy voice. “Good morning! I brought you breakfast in bed,” her mom replied. Piper saw a steaming plate of pancakes and bacon. “You are the best mom ever!” she exclaimed. As she ate the delicious breakfast, her mom crawled in bed with her. Her mom picked up the TV remote and turned on cartoons. Piper and her mom laughed at the silly shows together.
