Student Discipline: SPARKS 2018

Teachers must be allowed to discipline for the following:

• Correcting a student who disrupts normal classroom activities

• Correcting a student who abuses, or insults a teacher while carrying on his or her official duties

• Correcting a student who uses abusive or foul language directed at a district employee, school volunteer, or another student

• Correcting a student who likes a sports team that the teacher does not like

Disciplinary action may include, but is not limited to:

• oral or written reprimands

• written notification to parents of disruptive behavior

• rapping a student on the knuckles with a ruler
