What is the main function of input device named sensors:

• Used to convert digital data to analogue data

• Data that is inputted in this device is a measurement of some physical quantity that is continuously changing

• Use to scan data such as images and pictures

• is required as main software components for smart home furnitures such as air condition

Four different types of sensors

• Pressure , Light, Wind and Scanners

• X-Ray, Bar Code, PH, Chemical

• PH, Light, Temp and Sound

• Touch Screen, Fabric, Humidity and colors

Two Advantages of using Sensors:

• -Readings are continuous

• Very Cheap to use for all aspects of life

• -Action (control system) or warning (monitoring system) will be initiated immediately

• is easy to program and install

One Major disadvantage of using sensors:

• Very expensive

• Difficult to install

• Requires use of special cable , Fiber Optics

• -Faulty sensors can give false results

An Input device used with a stylus to produce freehand drawings

• Touch Screen

• Scanner

• Graphics tablet

• Printer

Where input device such as Webcams are mostly used :

• Online Games and taking pictures

• Conversation while chatting online and Video conferencing

• Using Whatsapp and Skype

• Making videos for school presentation

One Major advantage of using Webcams:

• used to play online games with others

• Free software to make videos

• is used as main device to talk with others through use of internet

• Allow people to keep in contact without travel

Three direct data entry (DDE) devices for reading information from cards such as credit and Debit cards

• Debit card reader, touch screen and wireless card

• Chip and PIN readers , Magnetic stripe readers and Contactless card readers and

• ATM machine, Debit Card reader and touch and go

• Smart Reader, Chip and PIN readers, and use of RFID

Where input device such as Chip and PIN readers are mostly used :

• at the touch screen machines

• at airport where passports are scanned

• at EFTPOS (electronic funds transfer at point of sale) terminal

• where payments are done using cash

One advantage of Chip and PIN readers is:

• Is available anywhere

• More secure system (PIN must match)

• is cheap to implement

• does not require special device
