What is Confirmation ?

What does the candidate need to do in preparation for their Confirmation ?

• Choose a sponsor who is married

• Choose a sponsor, must be your mother or father

• Choose a sponsor who is a practicing Catholic and has completed the sacraments of healing

• Choose a sponsor who is a practicing Catholic and has completed the sacraments of initiation

Confirmation is:

Who performs the Confirmation Mass ?

• The Priest

Why is Confirmation completed in grade 6 ?

• Because it fits in to the school year

• Because it needs to be assessed and added to students reports

• Because the child is mature enough to take on a more adult role within the church

• Because it is an important part of the school curriculum

What is the sponsors role in Confirmation ?

• To help the candidate prepare for their Confirmation

What does your chosen sponsor need to have/be ?

• Under the age of 16

• Catholic and married

• Practicing Catholic and have completed the sacraments of initiation

• Attended a Catholic Primary School and High School

Why is the Sacrament called Confirmation ?

• Confirmation is given its name because this sacrament confirms the faith which was received during baptism

• Confirmation is given its name because this celebration confirms the presents received during Reconciliation

• Confirmation is given its name because this celebration allows for the candidate to receive the bread and blood of Christ
