Slave

• a person who is the legal property of another and is forced to obey them.

• Working hard

• not being able to work for yourself

• being paid accordingly for your efforts

Convict

• To be guilty of a criminal offence by the verdict of a jury or the decision of a judge in a court of law.

• To be arrested for a crime

• Moving overseas so you don't get in trouble

• A passenger on a ship

Migration

• the action of coming to live permanently in a foreign country.

• movement of people to a new area or country in order to find work or better living conditions

• Living in the same country all your life

• Living in a hotel not a residence

Emigration

• Moving from city to city

• Moving for 6 months and coming back

• The act of leaving one's own country to settle permanently in another; moving abroad.

• Staying in the same city

Immigration

• Moving to a different state

• Moving in the same state

• the action of coming to live permanently in a foreign country

• Moving to a different country where they speak the same language

Free Settler

• An early settler who was not a convict.

• Someone who didn't pay to move

• Someone forced to move to a new place

• Someone that was arrested but set free

Assisted Migrant

• People whose passage was subsidised or paid for through one of the several assisted immigration schemes

• People that needed help to move countries

• People who help others move countries

• People who work in government office to help people move
