When you are asked or told to do something the first time do you:

• Refuse to do anything at all

• Throw a chair

• Yell at the teacher about how they're being unfair

• Respectfully do what is asked and understand that there is a reason behind it

If I, Miss Alcorn, ask you to stop talking why do you think I am asking you to stop?

• So you can hear instructions clearly and understand what we're doing

• So you'll stop being annoying

• So that way you can follow instructions instead of having to have them repeated 5 times

• Because it is an inappropriate time to be talking to your friend next to you

Why should you raise your hand before coming up to the teacher's desk?

• So I don't interrupt others who are receiving help

• So the teacher can handle questions without getting overcrowded

• To show the teacher I have a question / don't understand something about the material we are learning.

• You don't have to raise your hand, it doesn't matter

• It means that we should talk louder so that way I can keep working

• Because when the phrase is said you drop what you're doing and pay attention to instructions
