What are soft skills?

• They are the personal attributes you need to succeed in the workplace.

• They are specific, teachable abilities that can be defined and measured.

• They refer to the working environment and all existing circumstances affecting labor in the workplace, including job hours, physical aspects, legal rights and responsibilities.

Why is communication a 21st Century skill?

• People need to be able to clearly express their ideas, while listening to others carefully.
• People are communicating less and less.
• Cable TV is a growing source of entertainment.

What does it mean to collaborate?

• To "collar" someone into believing what you believe.
• To work together in a teaming situation.
• To argue.
• To grow a tree.

What is "information literacy?"

• Managing time.
• Being able to read.
• Knowing how to find information.
• Being able to access and evaluate information from a wide array of sources.

What is media literacy?

• Being able to access and evaluate information from a wide array of sources.
• A form of art criticism.
• Understanding how and why messages of all kinds are made.
• Knowing what the Constitution is and the rights that are embedded within it.

What does "accountability" mean?

• Being able to count with accuracy.
• Being able to set clear goals and achieve them.
• Being able to guide others toward a common goal.
• Being responsible for results.
