The First Amendment guarantees...

• Protects the right to own and bear arms.

• In most cases, guarantees the right to a trial by jury and to have a lawyer

• Protects freedom of religion, speech, the press; the right to assemble peacefully' and the right to disagree with government decisions.

• Asserts that all powers not stated as belonging to the federal government belong to the states or to the people.

The Second Amendment...

• Forbids very high bail, fines, and extraordinary punishment.

• Protects people from having their property unfairly searched or taken.

• Protects the right to vote.
