At some point in your life, you've probably had the hiccups. Hiccups can be funny or annoying, but what causes them? Normally when you breathe in, a muscle in your abdomen called the diaphragm tightens, or contracts, and your lungs fill with air. Sometimes, the diaphragm contracts too quickly. What does that cause? That causes you to hiccup over and over. Normally hiccups only last for a few minutes. But in rare cases they can last for days or even weeks. The longest case of hiccups ever recorded was 68 years!

Dandy Dandelions

The dandelion is a very common plant with yellow flowers. some people may consider these weeds a nuisance and try to remove them from their yards. Such people are wrong about dandelions. Dandelions are beautiful. They're also edible. Dandelions are eaten in salads. They are even used to make homemade root beer. Most of all, I think dandelions are fun. Late in the summer, their yellow flowers are replaced by seeds. If you blow on them, the seeds float through the air like tiny parachutes. Dandelions are just dandy with me.
