Describe what Jem,Scout, and Dill do in the Radley yard at the beginning of the chapter?

• They sneak into the Radleys backyard with goal can look in the window.

What do they see that makes them run away?

• Because they look at a dead man inside the house.

• Because Mr. Radley scares them and starts screaming at them

• Suddenly they see the shadow of a man,moved across the porch toward Jem.

• Because Scout was afraid and felt Mr. Radley was going to find them

What happens to Jem's pants?

• From the fear that Mr. Radley will catch them he pee himself .

• He went to play with scout on the lake and he got all wet.

• He was hot and he does not want to walk in pants.

• The children climb through the fence, Jem gets caught up in it and must kick his pants off to get free.

What excuse does Dill make up to explain the situation?

Why is it important to Jem to go back and get his pants before morning, even though the mission is dangerous?

• Because they were his mother's favorite pants and he did not want to lose them because it was the only memory he had left of his mother.

• He knew Calpurnia had struggled to make those pants so he did not want to lose them because it would make Calpurnia sad.

• He does not want to lose his father's respect. I told Scout, "Atticus is not ever whipped me since I can remember. I wanta keep it that way."

Jem has decided that what he, Scout, and Dill did was wrong. What might account for Jem's change of heart?

• His developing maturity. He is now thinking about the consequences of his actions and is feeling remorse for having disappointed Atticus.

• Because he felt an obligation to be the example of a scout and was doing the opposite as he had promised his mother

• He wanted to prove that he was the mature one to be the group leader.

How does Scout feel about it?

• Scout, on the other hand, is still very much a child. She cannot understand Jem's newfound moral realization.

• She felt sad knowing she and her brother would not be the same since he was falling in love with a girl.

• She did not care anyway they had never been so close to her it was not a difference.
