Spider monkeys are found in the tropical forests of Central and South America, ranging from southern Mexico to Brazil. They live in the upper layers of the tropical forest as high as 25 to 30 feet above the ground. They mostly eat fruits but

have been known to eat flowers and insects. They live in groups of 15 to 35 monkeys. Although they forage for food alone or in small groups, the rest of their time is spent within their group environment. Their foraging is mainly done from dawn until 10 a.m. They are diurnal by nature, which means they sleep during the night and are awake during the day. Spider monkeys are known to be very intelligent.
