The Outsiders Chapters 6 and 7

We learn in chapter 6 that Cherry is a spy for the Greasers. Why is she helping them?

• She has decided that she is in love with Dallas and will do anything to keep him safe.

• She feels partly responsible for what happened to Johnny and Pony because she left the movie with them, which angered Bob.

• She is angry with all the Socs and wants to see them lose the rumble.

• Her parents told her that helping the Greasers is the right thing to do.

In chapter 6, Johnny decides to turn himself in to the police. Why does that decision worry Dallas?

• Johnny believes that he is guilty and should be punished for what he did.

• Dallas knows that no one will speak up for Johnny and that he will be found guilty.

• Dallas is worried that Johnny will be attacked by the Socs if he returns home.

• Dallas knows that jail changes a person and he doesn't want Johnny to end up hardened like him.

In chapter 6, why did Dallas hit Ponyboy over the back as he pulled Ponyboy out of the church?

• Dallas was trying to knock Ponyboy out to keep him from going back into the church.

• Dallas was angry at Ponyboy for running into the fire.

• Ponyboy's jacket was on fire, and Dallas was trying to put it out.

On page 98, what does Ponyboy realize about his relationship with Darry?
