Once upon a time, there was a prince named Bandung Bondowoso, son of Pengging King named Prabu Damar Moyo. Bandung Bondowaso was strong and powerful.

There was another kingdom named Keraton Boko, the king of Kearton Boko named Prabu Boko and his minister named Patih Gupalo, both of them were giants who ate men. But Prabu Boko had a very beuutiful daughter named Roro Jonggrang

One day Pengging Kingdom wanted to attack Keraton Boko. Prabu Boko and his soldiers rebelled Pengging Kingdom, but he lost because of the strength and powerf of Bandung Bondowoso. then Prabu Boko was killed.Bandung Bondowoso ran to Keraton Boko to catch Patih Gupalo,but in there, Bandung Bondowoso met a beautiful lady. She was Rorojonggrang.

Bandung Bondowoso fell in love with her and asked to marry her. But Roro Jonggrang rejected him, because she knew that Bandung Bondowoso had killed her father.To reject Bandung Bondowoso proposal, Roro Jonggrang asked him something. Roro Jonggrang said,“if you want to marry me, you have to make a well and one thousand templesin one night”

Bandung Bondowoso agreed and started to make a well known as Jalatunda and made 1000 temples helped by genies.Worried that Bandung Bondowoso would finish them. Rorojonggrang ordered the girls to pound rice and burn stubbles in the east as sign that the morning had come.

Bandung Bondowoso stopped his job,but he felt that it was not morning yet. The total temple was only 999 temples.Bandung Bondowoso was getting mad, because Loro Jongrang didn’t appreciate his effort.

“You…. You Roro Jonggrang, there is only one temple left, let you be the one who complete it. And for the girls here, there would be no men who marry you” cursed Bandung Bondowoso angrily.Then Rorojonggrang was transformed to be a stone statue. And now the statue of Lorojonggrang is still in Candi Prambanan.
